OUR CHRISTIAN BELIEFS

Christian Light Academy provides children with a formal grade education using the nationally accredited Christian Abeka program. We are, above all else, focused on each child learning about the world we live in in a Christ-centered way. Listed below are the major Christian doctrines which are upheld by the Christian Light Academy School Board and Staff and are incorporated into the program when appropriate.

OUR CHRISTIAN BELIEFS

 We believe:

 Holy Scriptures

The Bible is God's written revelation to man; thus, it is inspired by God through the Holy Spirit, and it is infallible and inerrant (2 Tim. 3:16; 1 Cor. 2:7-14; 2 Pet. 1:20-21).

 God

There is but one living and true God, an infinite, all-knowing Spirit, perfect in all His attributes, one in essence, eternally existing in three Persons—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (John 4:24; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14; 1 John 5:7).

 Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ was virgin born.  He was God incarnate.  The purpose of the incarnation was to reveal God to men and redeem men by paying the atonement for their sins through His death and resurrection.  Christ is the Ruler over God's kingdom (Is. 7:14; Matt. 1:23, 25; Luke 1:26 35; John 1:1, 14; Ps. 2:7-9; Is. 9:6; John 1:29; Phil. 2:9-11; Heb. 7:25-26; 1 Pet. 1:18-19).

 Man

Man was created by God in His image and likeness.  Man was created free of sin with intelligence and moral responsibility to God.  All men have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, and all men are in need of repentance as a required condition for forgiveness of sins and salvation (Gen. 2:7, 15-25; James 3:9; Rom. 3:23; Mark 1:15).

 Regeneration

Regeneration is a supernatural work of the Holy Spirit by which the divine nature and divine life are given.  It is accomplished solely by the power of the Holy Spirit through the instrumentality of the Word of God when the repentant sinner, as enabled by the Holy Spirit, responds in faith to the divine provision of salvation (faith in Jesus Christ, forgiveness through the redemptive work of Christ on the cross).  Genuine regeneration is manifested and demonstrated in righteous attitudes and conduct.  Good works and behaviors are the proper evidence of regeneration.  A regenerated person submits to the control of the Holy Spirit in his/her life through faithful obedience to the Word of God (John 3:3-7; Titus 3:5; John 5:24; 1 Cor. 6:19-20; Eph. 2:10; Eph. 5:17-21; Phil. 2:12b; Col. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:4-10).

 Holiness

Through obedience to the Word of God and the empowering of the Holy Spirit, the believer is able to live a life of increasing holiness in conformity to the will of God, becoming more and more like our Lord Jesus Christ (John 17:17, 19; Rom. 6:1-22; 2 Cor. 3:18; 1 Thess. 4:3-4; 5:23).

 Separation from the world

The Scriptures clearly indicate that in the last days, apostasy and worldliness shall increase.  Separation from sin and separation from all religious apostasy and worldly practices is clearly called for throughout the Old and New Testaments and is commanded of us directly by God (Rom. 12:1-2, 1 Cor. 5:9-13; 2 Cor. 6:14-7:1; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 John 9-11; 2 Cor. 6:14-7:1; 2 Tim. 3:1-5).

 Baptism by the Holy Spirit

Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift to believers which empowers them for service, progressive holiness, and spiritual guidance.  The baptism by the Holy Spirit is manifested by speaking in other tongues, as the Spirit gives utterance.  Baptism by the Holy Spirit is to be earnestly desired by every believer (Acts 2:4; 1 Cor. 12:4-10, 28; Luke 11:13; Acts 19:6).

 Water Baptism

As portrait and commended by Jesus Christ Himself, water baptism by way of complete and full immersion should be desired and administered to believers.  At the time of baptism, the believers should be of the age when they are able to comprehend and consciously take the responsibility for the profession of their faith.  Believers should be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit as the Scriptures reveal (Matt. 3:13-17; Matt. 28:19; Acts 8:36-38; Acts 19:5).

 The Lord’s Supper

Believers’ regular participation in the Lord’s Supper has been commended by Jesus Christ.  By participation, believers remember Christ and His sacrifice, proclaim Christ’s death, and are discerning about Christ’s body (1 Cor.11:23-29; Luke 22:19-20).

 Prayer

Prayer is the believer’s communication with God.  The Scripture instructs believers to practice prayers of repentance, supplications, intercessions, thanksgiving, and worship.  It also urges the believers to pray constantly.  God answers prayers that are prayed in faith.  Believers should also practice prayers for healing and cleansing from unclean spirits (1 Tim. 2:1; 1 Thess. 5:17; James 1:5,6; Matt. 10:18, Acts 5:14).

 Church

The Church of Christ is the gathering of the children of God, the Bride and the Body of Christ, the House of God, and the pillar and foundation of the truth (Acts 2:41-42; Rev. 20:1-9; 1 Tim. 3:15).

 The Rapture of the Church

Our Lord Jesus Christ in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, will rapture His faithful Church from this earth to be forever with Him.

“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And so, we will be with the Lord forever” (1 Thess. 4:16,17; Titus 2:13; John 14:1-3; 1 Cor. 15:51-53).

 The Millennial Kingdom

“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection, on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ and shall reign with Him a thousand years” (Rev. 20:6).

The Judgment and the Great White Throne

The Church, together with Christ, shall judge the living and dead according to their deeds (1 Cor. 6:2-3; Rev. 20:11-15).
